SWSA E5 evening race in fresh breeze

The fifth race in the SWSA evening series saw a fresh breeze gusting to around 20 knots which allowed the full 2 rounds of the course to be completed by both class 1 and class 2. Both classes finished in similar time showing the differing course lengths for each class to be about right.

In class 1 Hooligan (Sigma 33) showed her speed on the first leg overhauling Enigma (Mystery 30) on the first leg but then lost that lead on the second leg by being a little optimistic about flying their spinnaker which entertained us all. Hooligan still took line honours, however, though the handicap result put that beautiful Clarke Mills classic, Dreamweaver, in 1st place.

In class 2 Auriole took line honours with the little Timpenny 670 , Rythmic coming in just 32 seconds later. On handicap it was Rythmic’s race and she showed that she can perform in both light airs and heavier winds.
